Coronavirus in Refugee Camps. What needs to be done

SPEAK, under Salama (Wellness) Champion Project, has been carrying our Covid-19 campaigns with support of the International Refugee Rights Initiative (IRRI) with the aim of promoting measures (SOPs) used in fighting the pandemic.

Since those sheltering in camps are highly likely to find themselves in close contact with their neighbours, SPEAK has taken up the gospel of personal hygiene-washing hands with water and soap, avoiding touching mouth, nose and eyes, shaking hands or hugging while greeting, etc and keeping a social distance of at least 2 metres. Hygiene has been a big issue because many refugee sites do not have enough water to provide for adequate washing, drinking and cooking. But SPEAK has been teaching people to use whatever drops they have to ensure proper personal hygiene in oder to avoid contracting coronavirus.
