Sports for Peace

SPEAK conducts sports activities under our sports64 project with the theme: UNITY IN DIVERSITY. These activities bring together young people to understand the beauty of diversity and playing together. We support youths to be the agents against the stereotypes and some of their stories give us a very big optimism that our efforts are for the right course at the right time.

Support to Girl-child education

SPEAK carries out campaigns against early child marriage. Through interactions with the school-going adolescent girls, some of the main challenges they share includes lack of sanitary materials which affects them severely as they cannot concentrate and perform at the same levels with their male counterparts or end up dropping out of school. We have taken a step to distribute sanitary equipment to the students especially in candidates and semi candidate classes.

Since 2018, our programs impacted at least 2000 young people through sports and dialogues.

Some specific achievements from our programs include the following:

  • Drastic decrease in violence since 2018 with zero incidences of inter-tribe or refugee-host conflict reported.
  • Great increase in number of people seeking dialogue
  • Drastic increase in performances and school attendance for female students.
